SEO stands for “search engine optimization.” It’s the practice of increasing both the quality and quantity of website traffic, as well as exposure to your brand, through non-paid (also known as "organic") search engine results. Despite the acronym, SEO is as much about people as it is about search engines themselves. It’s about understanding what people are searching for online, the answers they are seeking, the words they’re using, and the type of content they wish to consume. Knowing the answers to these questions will allow you to connect to the people who are searching online for the solutions you offer. If knowing your audience’s intent is one side of the SEO coin, delivering it in a way search engine crawlers can find and understand is the other. In this guide, expect to learn how to do both.
Whilst SEO can seem techy and scary, there are a few simple things that you can do on your pages, during this downtime, to help increase your organic search ranking on Google:
Meta-titles: make sure your meta-titles are well structured, include the correct keyword and keep within 65 characters. Also, make sure you have a unique meta-title for each page.
Meta-descriptions: should be unique, keyword rich and include a call to action.⠀ ⠀
Headers: make your page more user friendly and easier for Google to understand: one H1 header per page, use H2 to separate content ⠀
Internal Linking: are clickable text linking one page to another. This can be a great way to increase the time spent on your website, improving site engagement but also more importantly They help spread link equity around your website.
SEO optimized content: When producing content for your website, ensure it is optimized by including your keywords (but no keyword stuffing), not duplicated from any external sources and is both relevant and of value to the customer. ⠀
These are some basic on-page optimizations you can make. We will do another post on off-page recommendations too! If you have any questions on the above, just drop us a message! ⠀
